The Research Center

Quality Research and Quality Science

For nearly a decade The Research Center at Clayton Sleep Institute has contributed to the advancement of medicine.  The Research Center is committed to forward-thinking innovations in sleep medicine and research and has advanced research in the areas of:

  • Sleep Medicine
  • Pharmaceutical Trials
  • Sleep and Stress
  • Pulmonary Disease
  • Medical Device Development
  • Neurological Disorders

We conduct research in an independent rigorous scientific environment that is free from the bureaucratic limitations common to many institutions.  We create a progressive atmosphere devoted to highest quality research and science.  Our independence allows us to use a more flexible and effective contracting process combined with investigator skill sets from all areas of research and science.

We conduct research in an independent rigorous scientific environment FREE FROM LIMITATIONS common to many institutions. For all studies The Research Center ensures quality of research and science by obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals prior to pre-study activities.  These approvals include submissions to the Federal Drug Administration when appropriate and to an Institutional Review Board.  We have a progressive structure and experienced research staff that streamline the established timeframe from protocol to start date to 20 – 50% less than other research groups.  Both medical device manufacturers and pharmaceutical companies have recruited the CSI Research Center to perform and complete various research protocols.

Industry-Driven Research

We work with sponsoring companies and organizations to maintain their goals and the highest research standards.  The experience of our core research team and contributions from CSI PhDs and physicians enables The Research Center to recruit and execute ongoing trials in accordance with the international guidelines established by the FDA, Helsinki and clinical good practice.

Investigator-Initiated Research

The ultimate goal of investigator-initiated research studies is to obtain conclusive information that is suitable for publication and presentation.  Over the course of 30 years of professional activity, CSI scientists have published or presented hundreds of peer-reviewed manuscripts and abstracts.  We often present at the American Academy of Sleep Medicine’s national Sleep Meeting, at events sponsored by the National Sleep Foundation and at other regional, national and international conferences.

Our CollaborationsWe COLLABORATE with medical device and pharmaceutical companies on a full range of usability and efficacy studies.

CSI’s Research Center has collaborated with external organization on investigator initiated research trials, device manufacturer industry trials and pharmaceutical research trials.  The Research Center has worked with CareFusion UCB, Respironics, Inc., GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer, Tyco Healthcare, Takeda Pharmaceuticals North America, Transcept Pharmaceuticals, ICON Research, Fisher and Paykel Healthcare Ltd., Astra-Zeneca, Sleep Sense, Phillips, Covidian and Oridion.
